Procedure:
Rhinoplasty with septal reconstruction.
Patient
Concerns: This 18 year-old male complained
of difficulty breathing on the left side of the nasal
passage. This patient sustained nasal injury 6 months
earlier while playing basketball. In addition, he was
concerned about the displacement of the nose to the
left. He desired better breathing through his nose and
subtle refinements to the outside of his nose.
Dr.
Markus’ Treatment: The breathing space
was opened. The middle portion of the nose was aligned
and opened by placement of bilateral spreader grafts
(these are invisible grafts from the septum designed
to improve nasal air exchange and restore symmetry to
the middle third of the nose). In addition, nasal tip
projection was increased and the tip was sculptured.
Patient Comments: "After sustaining an
injury playing basketball, I was referred to Dr. Markus
for correction of my fractured nose. Dr. Markus and
his staff immediately made me feel comfortable. All
my questions and concerns were patiently answered. Dr.
Markus always let me know what to expect at each stage
of the process and the results of the surgery surpassed
my hopes and expectations. In addition to repairing
the fracture, my nasal passages, previously blocked
by a deviated septum, were finally opened and my breathing
dramatically improved."
