Reshaping the nose, rhinoplasty, is one of the most
common cosmetic surgeries performed. Dr. Markus strives
to avoid the "operated" look in performing
rhinoplasty.
Procedure:
Rhinoplasty with septal reconstruction.
Patient
Concerns: This 27 year old female complained
of difficulty breathing on the left side of the nasal
passage. In addition, she wanted refinement of the nasal
tip and contouring of the bump on her nose.
Dr.
Markus’ Treatment: The breathing space
was opened. The nose was shortened slightly and the
profile was lowered. In addition, the nasal tip projection
was increased and the tip was sculpted. Pieces of nasal
septal cartilage (the patient’s own nasal cartilage)
were employed to increase tip projection and sculpture
the tip. Rhinoplasty is no longer only reduction of
nasal bone and cartilage, but also may involve augmentation
primarily utilizing a patient’s own cartilage
or bone to structure and sculpt.
