The forehead lift is a very commonly performed cosmetic
treatment, and while the large majority of these procedures
are performed with no complications, there are some
risks. All of these risks are greatly reduced if you
follow post-operative instruction very carefully. Dr.
Markus will gladly answer any questions you may have
and address all of your concerns.
Possible
complications include:
Scarring.
On rare occasions, patients may form a wide scar.
The scar can be greatly reduced in a later surgical
procedure.
Hair
loss. Some patients may experience hair loss along
the edges of the scar. This hair loss is usually temporary.
Loss
of sensation. While usually temporary, some patients
(particularly those who undergo the open forehead lift
procedure) will experience a loss of sensation behind
the incision or in the forehead skin.
Infection.
Although rare, infections may occur that can be treated
with antibiotics.
Nerve
injury. Although extremely rare, there is the possibility
of injury to the nerves that control forehead elevation
on one or both sides.
