Dr. Markus always discusses with his patients their
candidacy for surgery as well as possible considerations.
You may be a good candidate for breast reduction surgery
if you have:
- Back,
neck, or shoulder pain caused by the weight of your
breasts
- Heavy,
sagging breasts with very low nipples and areolas
- Breasts
that are not proportionate to the rest of your body
- Breasts
that are not equal in size
- Skin
irritation or infections beneath your breasts
- Indentations
in your shoulders caused by tight bra straps
- Curtailed
your physical activity because of the size and weight
of your breasts
- Low
self esteem or if you feel self conscious because
of the size and weight of your breasts
Before
breast reduction surgery, you should also consider:
- Age.
Breast reduction surgery can be performed at any
age, but it is generally best to wait until the breasts
have finished developing.
- Childbirth
and Breast Feeding. Childbirth and breast feeding
may affect the size of your breasts, and breast reduction
surgery may affect your ability to breast feed. If
you are planning on having children or breast feeding,
you should discuss this with Dr. Markus.
