Procedure: Bilateral breast reduction.
Patient
Concerns: This 39 year old female
was 5’2” tall, weighed 220 pounds
and wore a 46FFF brassiere.
Dr.
Markus’ Treatment: Bilateral
breast reduction was performed with free
nipple-areolar grafts. Patients with severe
breast hypertrophy and a long distance from
the breast crease to the nipple and areola
(marked drooping) are good candidates for
this type of procedure. The free nipple
areolar grafts allow the doctor to shape
the breasts well and achieve good anterior/posterior
projection without the risk of loss of the
nipple/areola.
Preoperatively,
the breasts were symmetrical. Approximately
6 pounds of tissue was removed from each
breast. The patient’s breast size
was changed from a 46FFF to a 46C/D.
Patient
Comments: “I would recommend
breast reduction surgery to anyone in a
heartbeat. I had no pain and no problems.
I am very glad I did it. Dr. Markus was
wonderful and very attentive. The staff
was wonderful as well.”
